Journalist and writer based in New York City.

Hello, I’m Rosie and I’m a Brooklyn-based British journalist, editor, and writer with almost a decade of experience writing for women’s magazines and national newspapers, as well as for leading digital sites.

I’m currently Deputy Health Editor at Oprah Daily (formerly O, The Oprah Magazine), where I cover all things health, wellness, fitness, and mental health. My work has also appeared in places like Al Jazeera, Vice, Sunday Telegraph, Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, The i, and The Observer, as well as in magazines such as Grazia, Reader’s Digest, Fabulous, Stella, and Saga.

I cover health, wellness, books, food, and travel, as well as writing long features on the human impact of news stories. I’ve interviewed refugees, royals, Olympians, death row survivors, Hollywood stars, and a prime minister, but the only time I’ve ever been nervous was when I met David Attenborough and immediately forgot all my questions.

I’m working on my first middle grade novel, previous drafts of which were longlisted for the Bath Children’s Novel Award in 2020 and 2019, as well as the Mslexia Children and YA Prize 2021. One of my published short stories was nominated for the Pushcart Prize 2014. I’m a graduate of the Faber Academy and hold a master’s degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Edinburgh.

“‘Rosie has written on varying subjects for Al Jazeera - from the difficulties faced in life by children caring for disabled parents, to life under lockdown in the Caribbean. Her work is of an excellent standard, extremely well researched and reported, and requiring few clarifications and edits. She is highly professional in her approach and a pleasure to work with, providing clear pitch outlines and expectations for turnaround. On the occasions on which I have reached out to her for help with specific projects (such as our inspiring women series for Women’s Month), she has responded with excellent ideas and suggestions, and produced exactly what I have asked for.”

Nina Montagu Smith, Features Editor, Al Jazeera

“Rosie has written several health features for me at Saga Magazine, plus one fabulous general feature at very short notice. As anyone who knows me will testify, I have very high standards when it comes to research, accuracy and quality of writing - and Rosie's features deliver on all three. She also comes up with good ideas, files on time and is very happy to tweak a piece if necessary. I thoroughly recommend her.”

— Rachel Carlyle, Contributing Editor, Saga Magazine

“Rosie is one of my go-to book reviewers. She’s reliable, efficient, versatile and enthusiastic. She never misses a deadline and her copy is always written to a high standard that requires minimal editing. She’s a pleasure to work with and I would recommend her without hesitation!”

– Charlotte Heathcote, Books/Arts Editor, Mirror and Express

“Rosie is one of our trusted experts at London Writer’s Salon, and we have had the pleasure of bringing her in for several of our Gold Expert Hours to share her impressive in-depth industry knowledge on topics such as pitching, research and structuring long-form features. Feedback from our members has been great, which is why we keep asking her back. She's been a brilliant co-host on occasion for our webby-nominated London Writer's Hour as well.”

Parul Bavishi, co-founder of London Writer’s Salon

“Rosie is one of our go-to freelancers on the features desk. Reliable, quick with copy and brilliant at sourcing case studies, she totally understands the brand's tone of voice and her copy often requires very little editing - the dream! She is equally adept at both real-life, report and opinion features. She's great at pitching features ideas, but equally dependable if we send her over a commission to turn around quickly - we always know we can rely on her.”

Rosie Gizauskas, Deputy Features Editor, Fabulous Magazine

“Rosie is a dream to commission. She often writes for the celebrity travel features section for Telegraph Travel, interviewing celebrities for either My Life in Travel or The Holiday that Changed Me. I can always rely on Rosie to file clean copy to deadline, and she is also very quick to respond to any questions I might have. From the point of commissioning, I know it will be a smooth process.”

— Aisling O’Leary, Telegraph Travel

“Every year, Cision holds CommsCon where over 700 PR and comms professionals are invited to gain knowledge and inspiration on how to meet the challenges to come in the industry. The most popular session of the day is our media panel - top journalists sharing their predictions, insights and top tips for obtaining coverage but also how to engage. I was delighted Rosie agreed to take part! Her insight into the journalism world, best practice was invaluable – which you could tell from the Q&A element of the session as hundreds of PRs raised their hands to fire questions to Rosie and the panel! In fact, Rosie was such a hit, we asked her again – thankfully she said yes.”
